Received request from a web-based GED for profit business asking if contact information could be exchanged on our web site. (Decided to continue ABC Policy not to advertise for commercial entities on our website). Continuing Business: 1. Nominations for Keith's Award for 2010. We have one nomination that ABC will gladly consider for this year's award. We welcome any nominations of individuals or organizations that our readers feel deserve special recognition for their contributions for access! ABC will make a selection for Keith's Award and provide formal recognition to the recipient in the Spring. 2. Holiday Luncheon Planning. We have selected China Delight as the provider that will cater our meal for our luncheon from Noon to 2 p.m. on Thursday, December 16, 2010. This will be a fun, light- hearted time. We invite all who would like to join us to celebrate our accomplishments in 2010 and our dreams for 2011. Please RSVP to reserve your place at the luncheon. The cost is $5.00 for the meal. ABC will confidentially cover this cost for anyone who requests this assistance! We will need to know if you are coming by December 10th. Meal information about the buffet will be provided soon. We also will be inviting special guests and friends of access to join us! New Business: 1. Monthly Meeting Guest in January, 2011. We have arranged for a representative from the Benton County Sheriff's Department to join us! 2. Dial-a-Bus. Short discussion on the time-line for this agency to relocate from Chintimini Park due to the expansion of the Senior Center. Decided to ask for a representative guest of DAB to join us at our February meeting. 3. Discussion about potential benefit to City and County if a Commission were created to oversee Access/ADA matters. We recognize that ABC is limited in its resources and energy enough that not everything that we feel is important is possible for us to work on! Our discussion did not result in any recommendations that a commission be considered by local government. In fact, we acknowledged that funding and oversight by government is shrinking rather than expanding due to economic and political realities. ABCers will do what they can when they can! Meeting Adjourned at 1:30 p.m.. Next regular ABC meeting will be Thursday, January 20, 2011, Noon to 1 p.m., Commissioner's Meeting Room, Benton Plaza.
