Minutes of October 21, 2010 Access Benton County Present: Tony Albert, Ronald Naasko, Marlene Massey, Edith Yang, Paul Mullett, Mike Mullett, Pat Shermer, Kate Hunter-Zaworski, Linda Wagner, Todd Allen, Jim Smith. ABC Minutes are intended to describe the discussions, decisions, and actions that occur during ABC’s monthly meeting. The minutes are to be considered only a draft until they are approved at the following monthly meeting. Persons who receive the draft of the minutes and see inaccuracies or omissions in them are asked to please inform ABC. A. Meeting with our Special Guest, Sara Gelser. We appreciate Sara sharing her time with our group! As many of you already know, Sara has several connections with organizations and initiatives related to access and persons with disabilities. She continues to be State Representative for District 16, Oregon House of Representatives. B. Minutes of September 16, 2010 approved as submitted. C. Treasurer's Report. Cash Fund balance of $372.00. Recent expenditure of $30.00 related to Ability Awareness Day. Special appreciation to Cornerstone and Associates for the generous contribution to offset expenses for the event in 2010! D. Correspondence. Cards of appreciation were sent to many of our AAD Volunteers who served the August Event. E. Continuing Business: 1. Curb Cuts at 4th and Monroe Streets. Ronald checked all four curb cuts and did not identify any access problems at this intersection. 2. Text Amendment to Corvallis City Code. ABC Executive Members were polled by e-mail to determine if there was majority support in order for ABC to research this issue and to determine if ABC would advocate for a "position". There was clearly not enough support by ABC to work on this matter at this time. F. New Business: 1. Keith E. Billings Award for 2010. We received one nomination for Keith's Award. We dearly would appreciate many recommendations from our readers! Surely there are other organizations and individuals in Benton County that deserve recognition of contributions for improving accessibility for persons with disabilities! ABC will gather relevant information about the nominee and select the recipient by Spring, 2011. 2. ABC Holiday Luncheon Planning. ABC will host our annual Luncheon at the Commissioner's Meeting Room on December 16, 2010. We will have the meal catered this year! Details will be shared with our readers as soon as possible.
